Some mornings when it's cold, I think for sure it will rattle, but the noise isn't there, it's just normal. Temperature doesn't seem to make a difference. The easiest way to check is to remove the belt/belts, let the engine sit overnight and start it, and just listen for the noise. You're not going to drive it around, only listen for the noise.

Thanks for the link. Their does not seem to be a ticking noise while the engine is running. For the 1st second or two upon start up it literally sounds like someone is shaking a coffee can full of bearings. It also seems to only happen after 3-4 hours or after the engine has lost some lube pressure. We can't leave it on Friday.
